The creation of Chartwell Motors has been on my mind for the past three years. But creating a new automotive dealership isn't as simple as one might imagine, nor as easy as it used to be.
There are tens of details, a formal education requirement, a $50,000 bond requirement, zoning requirements, licenses, tax certificates, and much, much more that need to be acquired and accomplished before anybody can now establish a dealership in Virginia.
I count many other auto dealers as very close friends, having served them via newspapers that I have either owned or controlled these past four decades.
Some potential customers may decide NOT to buy a previously-owned vehicle from us and may want a recommendation of a new car dealer. If we're asked, we'll do our best to put you in contact with the best people we know for the model you're considering.
Chartwell Motors is not seeking to be your super duper dealer, nor your "volume dealer", nor any of the other fast-moving type operations that one often sees on television.
We're not going to be sending you promotional keys to cars in the mail, nor offering sweepstakes, etc. to get you to buy our cars. Nope: our cars and trucks are just going to have to speak for themselves.
That said, I wouldn't have established this dealership if I weren't very interested in this entire industry. We're members of the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association, we maintain a high standard of ethics and we'll serve our customers 24/7/365.
Let me know how we may serve you better. Let me know when you have a problem or when you need an item that we may supply.
I am honored to have a highly-committed group of associates working with me in this effort. We will work tirelessly to earn and keep your trust.
(A sister company known as the AlleghanyJournal.com (6 W. Ridgeway St., P. O. Box 542), is an online newspaper which serves the Alleghany Highlands, Clifton Forge, Covington and Bath County. We want to assure everyone that Chartwell Motors gets no special deals, no special rates and no special positions at any time. We will be promoting our dealership and those of others relentlessly and will maintain a level "playing field" at all times. The Alleghany Highlands needs the revenue and employment opportunities that are created by automobile sales. Also, you will see our advertising in places like the Roanoke Times, Ebay, AutoTrader, Cars.com and Facebook, television, direct mail, and on radio stations.)
